Archaeology and the Public

One of my classes this semester is Archaeology and the Public. This is going to be an interesting class. Questions for everyone.

Why should people major or become professional in Archaeology?

If you were to major in it what do you think parents would think?

And what is the value of archaeology?

For me it started with my 7th grade history teacher, he was the one that got me into old long past things and traveling. Honestly the reactions I got from family were really mixed, both positive and negative. I feel like archaeology allows us to really look at everything in regards to the past and it helps us look into the future as well.
